Privacy policy
Last updated 14 October 2026
Willo holds sensitive information about you and your family. This policy explains what we collect, why, where it is stored and the rights you have under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Who we are
Willo is an online based company that stores your data securely so that your loved ones are looked after. We are the responsible party for the personal information described here.
What we collect and why
- Account details: name, email address and mobile number, so you can sign in and we can contact you.
- Profile details: your name, surname, South African ID number, email and mobile, which the people you invite see so they can identify you.
- Will record: whether you have a will, who holds the original, their contact details and reference number, location notes, date signed and executor details.
- Reference copy: a PDF copy of your will, if you choose to upload one.
- Family file: records you add, such as bank accounts, policies, investments, property, vehicles, medical information, key contacts and wishes, plus any attachments.
- People you invite: their email address, and once they join, the name, surname, ID number, email and mobile from their profile. Please make sure they are happy for you to share their details with Willo.
- Reminders you set, and their dates.
- Payment details: plan, amounts, dates and status. Card details are entered on PayFast, not on Willo. We store a PayFast token so renewals can be charged.
- Messages you send through our contact form.
- Usage and technical data: analytics events, device and browser information, and error reports.
We use this information only to provide Willo, to bill subscriptions, to send reminders and service emails, to keep the service secure and working, and to understand how the site is used. We do not sell your personal information.
Who can see your information
- You can see and edit everything in your account.
- People you add as beneficiaries can see your profile details, your will record and your reference copy as soon as you add them. They cannot see your family file.
- Willo administrators can view and edit user profile details to provide support. Our engineers can access the database and file storage to operate the service.
- Our service providers (below) process information on our behalf.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, we immediately delete your profile, will record, reference copies, family file, attachments, reminders and beneficiary links. Payment records are kept for five years from the date of payment because the law requires us to keep financial records; they are linked only to an anonymous account id and are then deleted.

- Deletion: delete your account and data from Settings → Your data.
