Straight answers
Does Willo write my will?
No. Willo doesn't draft wills or give legal advice. If you need a will, speak to an attorney or fiduciary professional. Once it's signed, record in Willo where the original is kept, who holds it and who your executor is.
Is the copy I upload legally valid?
No. An upload is a reference copy only. In South Africa the Master of the High Court requires the original signed will, so a copy can't replace it. The copy helps your family know what your will says, and your will record tells them where to find the original.
What if I don't have a will yet?
You can still start. Record that you don't have a will yet (or that it's in progress), build your family file, and update your will record once your will is signed. Even better contact us and we can assist you to get your Will in place.
Who can see my information, and when do beneficiaries get access?
You can see everything in your account. People you add as beneficiaries can see your profile details, your will record and your reference copy as soon as you add them; there is no waiting period or trigger event. Your family file is visible only to you. You can remove a beneficiary at any time. Willo administrators can view and edit profile details to provide support.
How is my data protected?
All connections use HTTPS. Our database provider and our file storage encrypt stored data with AES-256, every request is checked against your signed-in account, and files are opened through links that expire after an hour. The details you type into Willo are not separately encrypted by our application, so please don't store passwords, PINs or full card numbers; record where to find them instead.
What happens to my data if Willo shuts down?
You can download everything we hold about you at any time from Settings, and delete your account and data whenever you like. Your original will is never held by Willo, so it stays wherever you keep it.

Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel from Settings whenever you like. You keep Premium until the end of the period you've paid for, you won't be charged again, and your account then moves to the free plan.
What does the free plan include?
Your will record (where the original is kept), a reference copy of your will, a starter family file of up to 3 records, and 1 beneficiary. Premium (R129 a month) adds unlimited beneficiaries, unlimited family file records with attachments, reference copy version history and annual review reminders.
