About

Why Willo exists

When someone dies, their family is often left with a simple question that is surprisingly hard to answer: is there a will, and where is the original?

In South Africa, the Master of the High Court needs the original signed will. A copy isn't enough. Yet originals end up with an attorney who has since retired, in a bank's safe custody, in a drawer at home, or with a relative nobody thought to ask. Families spend weeks searching, and sometimes never find it.

Willo is a family file for South African families. It records whether you have a will, who holds the original and how to reach them, and who your executor is. Around that, you can keep the details your family would otherwise have to piece together: policies, accounts, property, key contacts and your wishes. Then you invite the people who will need it.

Willo doesn't draft wills and isn't a legal service. If you don't have a will yet, we'd encourage you to speak to an attorney or fiduciary professional, and then record the details in Willo.
